Hello again

I've been busy with work and all that. Not to mention extremely tired no thanks to insomnia nearly every night of the week. And yes I still find time to knit. I am presently in Cleveland, Oh for the holidays. It has been cold, yet there is NO SNOW yet again. Everyone got socks this year. I'm sure that they went over as well as the hat and scarves. I have a new plan for next year's gifts. I did not get a chance to take a picture of the gifts because my camera is not working. New pictures may be absent for a while until I get this rectified.

Other issue are early signs of arthritis in of all places, my HANDS. It has been hell in this cold weather and I have been feeling it EVERYDAY. Until the camera is working again, I will be featuring links to sites about arthritis help, especially for knitters and natural remedies.

Dishcloths

Dishcloths are good projects to practice pattern stitches. I have knitted several over the months. The white cloth uses the trinity stitch which I love. If you are looking for stitch patterns try the following site:
You can also find free patterns and other helpful information on this site.

Back in action

I have been back in action for about three weeks now. I had surgery on my right hand for the trigger thumb I had been sufferning from for some 4 months. I was getting difficult to not just knit, but to write, type, play my computer games, lift stuff, and so on. I thought I would be able to knit immediately after the surgery. No such luck. I waited until after the stitches were removed and even then I was still dealing with some pain. My hands have been a bit stiff, but it is slowly going away. Here is more information about trigger thumb.

Completed blanket

I completed my blanket last Thursday. It is presently on my bed and covers me at night. Should I make another one using the same pattern, I will definitely make it wider and maybe even longer. (pic forthcoming)

Starting Christmas Gifts

After completing the brown multi-color socks, I decided to begin working on "Christmas" gifts. I had already decided back in January that everyone is getting a pair of socks and felted slipper clogs. What else am I going to do with all the yarn that I bought this spring? And that one pair of socks might turn into two. I might just change my name to "Sock Psyco."

Sock frenzy

Soocks are my thing to knit right now. I am currently workiing on my 4th pair of socks and will soon be working on my fifth. And yes, my loved ones are getting at least one pair of socks from my this Christmas.

SCHOOL'S OUT!

School is out and I pretty much have the summer to knit. The only problem is my "trigger" thumb. Something with the tendons swelling in the thumb which causes the joint to catch and a lot of pain. Anti-inflamitory meds have worked to a point but not enough. Nothing rids me of the pain. The next step is surgery. YIKES!

I have been working on a new blanket for my bed, a top and socks. I went crazy on E-Bay and bought 7 hanks of sock yarn over 2 months. I also bought a swift and ball winder. In all, I've probably spent a couple of hundred dollars on knitting related stuff over the past two months. I don't even invest that much in oil changes for my car in a year's time!

Other pair

Here is the other pair of socks. They didn't turn out as well as the first. One is a little smaller than the other. Who's gonna know except me and any one else who reads this blog?

Socks

I have completed TWO pairs of socks. Recently I bought some more sock yarn. Three more pairs are coming!

Sanibel

I am in Sanibel Island right now with my sister and brother-in-law! If I exclude layovers at the Miami airport, it is the furthest south I have ever been. We are staying at a time share. Pretty nice! Only drawback is that it's RAINING!! But this place is like right on the beach.

Yes I did bring my knitting. I am presently finishing up another pair of socks. I bought a bunch of yarn on e-Bay the other week. I also bought a new keyless remote for my car. The dealership wanted $95. And that didn't even include the programing fee. $20 on e-Bay and they send you the directions on how to program it. Now you can't beat that with a stick!

The Top

As I said weeks ago, I finished the gold top. Don't I look great in it?

The Box Has Been SENT!

I finally completed my NBC portfolio and sent it off last night. Yes last night. I got in the car and drove the post office by Tampa Airport and sent if off express mail. Now I get to cram for my assessment center exercises. They don't call them tests. I guess "assessment" may seem a little less threatening than "test." I six weeks to prepare.

Meanwhile, I will continue to knit. With summer coming up and me needing to "save" some money to get me through ten weeks of temporary unemployment, I guess I'll be knitting some projects with the *gulp* Red Heart acrylic yarn that i have. I've gotten spoiled using yarns by Cascade and Noru and Malabrigo, etc...

Almost done

I haven't made any new posts lately because I've been consumed with completing my National Board portfolios. The first three entries are boxed. I have a couple of things to add to entry 4 and I'm ready to send it off to Texas.

Look for new posts very soon of my Glitterspun sleeveless mock turtleneck and my FIRST pair of SOCKS!

Hanging in there

The wash cloths are still works in progress. I went out bought several balls of cotton yarn with the Michael's gift card I got for Christmas. My that came in REALLY handy. The layette set is almost complete. I have several totes to felt. I haven't knitted a pillow in a while so that will be one of my spring projects along with learning how to knit socks. I am presently "stuck" on my practice sock at the gusset.
March is nigh, so I am going to have to discipline myself to *sigh* set aside the knitting and get down to finishing my National Board entries. (Boy that was hard to type!)

Wash Cloths

Wash or dish cloths are good projects to practice different knit stitches. Plus I wanted to work in a yarn other than wool or acrylic. For example, my first wash cloth was done in moss stitch. I was ready to do a second one using trinity stitch except I couldn't figure out how to work the stitch pattern. I'll be asking someone at Knit n Knibble on Thursday. I settled for divided boxes. I will post a pic after I've done four or five.
